Experts have crunched the numbers to rank every local authority in the UK for quality of life.According to the study, Richmond has great schools, 80 per cent GP satisfaction and the lowest crime rate in London.Stroud was third top, followed closely by London’s Merton and Lancashire’s Ribble Valley district. Ninth on the list was Chorley, Lancs., while tenth best was Bath and North East Somerset. The Ribble Valley’ was in fifth place, thanks to great public services and the second-lowest crime rate in the country. But the area is partly improved by its schools, which rank as the 35th best in the country. It comes with a hefty price tag, however, with only those who can afford an average house price of £748,000 able to buy in the area. At the bottom of the list – ranking as the worst place to live in Britain – is Rushmoor in Hampshire.Next come Dudley in the West Midlands and Castle Point not far from Basildon in south Essex.
