Traffic chaos as massive multi-car crash CLOSES part of M25 with drivers facing huge delays

For those heading anti-clockwise on the M25 that means exiting the major motorway and using local roads before returning to the M25.It comes after news that the M25 would be closed again this weekend.

Affectionately referred to as the UK’s largest car park, the M25 is one of the most-used motorways in the country, with around 200,000 using it every day.Drivers have been advised to take alternative routes due to long delays caused by the crash.Roadworks in the area are also contributing to the congestion, after the incident occurred at around 7.45am.The clockwise carriageway has one lane closed just after the Bell Common Tunnel, causing traffic to build in the area.

“National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene providing assistance with traffic management.”Stretching approximately 117 miles, the M25 connects with numerous other motorways and A-roads, serving as a vital link for commuters, freight, and long-distance travellers.Emergency services including Essex Police are currently attending the scene.The crash has caused traffic to congest all the way back to junction 25 at Enfield.

National Highways confirmed on X that traffic caught within the closure will not be allowed pass the scene.National Highways has stated on X: “The M25 in Essex is closed anti-clockwise between J30 (Thurrock) and J29 (Upminster) due to a multi-vehicle collision. All emergency services including Essex Police are in attendance.The closures this weekend will impact junctions 10 and 11.

And the opposite carriageway is also seeing congestion halfway back to junction 28, the A12 due to onlookers.Motorists have been urged to plan their journeys in advance to avoid disruption.National Highways shut Junction 10 on Friday, March 7, and before reopening on Monday, March 10, with diversion routes put in place.Traffic can be seen backed up behind the incident into the distance with congestion all the way back through the Dartford Tunnels.There will be diversions put in place to help alleviate road traffic piling up on the motorway.The shocking pile-up involved two cars and a van, according to AA traffic.The motorway is closed anti-clockwise in Essex between J30 (Thurrock) and J29 (Upminster) due to the horror collision.

The next set of closures are taking place between 9pm on Friday, March 21 and 6am on Monday, March 24.National Highways have advised people to allow extra journey time and plan ahead or even delay the journey after the incident occurred at around 9am.
